A Comparative study for Correlation between Body Image and Depression in Post-hysterectomy Women and Non-hysterectomy Women

Abstract
This study was attempted to determine the influence of hysterectomy on body image and depression.
This study was done to compare the body image and depression of post-hysterectomy women, with that of non-hysterectomy women and determine the correlation between body image and depression.
The subjects in this study were 107 post-hysterectomy women and 39 non-hysterectomy women.
Data collection was done by computerized program using mean, percentage, t-test, x 2 - test, and Pearson correlation coefficient.
The result of the study are summarized as follows
1. 1) General caracteristic variables significantly related to the level of body image were the monthly income of the home and sexual satisfaction post-operative in post-hypsterectomy women(p=0.0005, p=O.Ol), were not in non -hysterectomy women.
2) General caracteristic variables significantly related to the level of depression were the job, monthly income of the home and sexual satisfaction post-operative in post-hysterectomy women(p=0.03, p=0.003, p=0.008), were the experience of admission in non-hysterectomy women(p=0.03).
2. The first hypothesis "The post-hysterectomy women would have the lower level of body image than the non-hysterectomy women", was accepted(p=0.025).
3. The second hypothesis "The post-hysterectomy women would have the higher level of depression than the non-hysterectomy women", was not accepted(p=0.26).
